I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Guy’s Hospital, London, with a unique background in architecture that shapes my approach to healthcare design. After studying architecture at Oxford Brookes (ARB Part 1 and 2), I gained valuable experience at McCaren Architecture, a practice focused on human-centred, sustainable designs, and at Atkins, a global consultancy known for delivering innovative architectural solutions for large-scale projects. This foundation in design has influenced my focus on healthcare-built environments.

I gained my NMC registration at King’s College London and completed clinical placements at Imperial College Healthcare. My nursing career began at King’s College Hospital on a fast-paced neurosurgical ward, providing specialist care to patients with complex neurological conditions. This further developed pre-registration experience at Oxford University Hospitals neuroscience ward, a leading centre in neurosurgery and neurological rehabilitation.

As a Parkinson’s Research and Clinical Nurse Specialist at King’s College Hospital, I supported clinical studies, developed research proposals, and provided care and advocacy for patients with movement disorders. I now work at Guy’s and St Thomas’, supporting patients with neurofibromatosis, continuing my focus in specialised, multidisciplinary care.

I recently completed a Pre-doctoral Fellowship (PCAF) and will begin a Doctoral Fellowship this year, both through the NIHR, and both bringing my clinical expertise and interest in healthcare design together. I am interested in how good architectural design can improve patient experience and outcomes. I want to use architectural design to enhance healthcare environments, improving patient outcomes and experience.

Please contact me to discuss healthcare environment research.
